My Car Poll
Well, the word is in, and my car is officially Totaled. Goodbye, sweet car. I didn't even get a chance to try out all of its features. I still have the bumper...don't know precisely what I plan on doing with it. Probably just photographing it and then disposing of it. (Anybody need a blue bumper?) It was a good car though. It sacrificed its life for mine. Greater love hath no car than this!

Now I have to get the final insurance paperwork figured out, then purchase a new car. Of course, I now have to re-think all of the decisions I thought I'd already finalized! So that leads me to My Very First Poll.

aw! i'll have to fill out your poll, later, after work. but too bad about the "totalled" verdict. but that's right, your car kept you alive, so it served you very, very well!

i don't drive and therefore know nothing about car insurance. that being said... how's that all going to work out for you? is it just a total financial loss? or what?

i wish you the best, and again, i'm so glad you're okay after that big wreck.

In a sense, I'm glad it's totalled. I mean, at least this way I can get it taken care of right away (well in a week or so), while to get it repaired would take like a month and a half!

Being without-a-car is really hard in MetroDetroit, because nowhere I go is within walking distance, and public transportation is virtually nonexistant.

I have insurance, and it looks like it won't be that bad. I think I'll come quite close to breaking even, since it was so new...I'll know for sure by the end of the week.

Thanks sweetie. (:

Good to see the technical of posting an LJ poll is not beyond you.

...should have been technical skill!

ha-ha! Sometimes even comments-posting is a challenge...I hate when I miss a typo like that.

And yes, my first poll came out very nicely...I am pleased with the results, and that I didn't screw anything up. Wasn't hard, either.

I am always worried my polls will go wrong in some way, or that no-one will answer them.

I see a lot of people seem to be voting for you to buy a new car instead of a used one. Weigh it very carefully before you decide to go for that. There isn't much advantage to buying new instead of used short of being able to say you owned the car first... As I mentioned in the anything else area, most cars lost quite a chunk of their value the first time they're driven off the lot bought, so getting a lease return from a respectable place that you trust most likely save you a lot of money, and not be all that different from getting a brand new car.

I think the concern about losing their value right away is really only valid if you want to sell it quickly. Since I kept my last car for almost 9 years, that wasn't so much a problem. What I like about new cars is that they come with a warranty, and that you know somebody else hasn't been abusing them - you know everything they've been through.

Still, there are a lot of options. Like the "B Lot" that Ford maintains, with cars with around 10,000 miles that still have partial warranties left on them. hmm, I should see if GM has one too; they probably do....
