Good news / Bad news
First, the good news, because that's more important:
I'm home safely.
We skated great.
Nobody got hurt.
We won first place.
I saw some friends.
I got to enjoy lots of family time and baby time.

Now that bad news, because it's buggin' me!
It was a long and exhausting weekend.
It was a long and exhausting drive both ways.
I was really sleepy driving back, so in order to survive I got myself
really wired on ephedra and caffine, and now I can't sleep.
I got home to discover my internet and cable television down, so I
can't check my email or LJ (haven't read anything since thurs morning,
if you've written).
I discovered I left my book at the hotel this morning, so not only can
I not use the internet or watch tv or sleep, I can't read either!
(Thank goodness I have my Palm, so I can send LJ posts into the void,
even though unfortunately I didn't set it up to receive my normal
email address so I can't read anything!)
The various customer service people I called to try to fix all of this
were all idiots, of course.
I'm cold! (like always)

But it's okay...I am home, my house and cats are okay, and I brought
home a gold medal for my troubles. Tomorrow hopefully the cable guy
will come fix everything, and/or I'll get online at work and find out
how the rest of the world has been. With luck, I'll even get some
sleep before then. Hopefully.

Plus, tomorrow is Groundhog Day, my favorite holiday! Happy early
groundhog day to all, and to all a good night.

Congratulations on first place!

And glad to hear you are home safe and sound, but the not being able to sleep thing is annoying.

Congrats on the first place! Darn on the cable, so seem to lose it every few months, what's up with that. And Groundhog Day is my sister's birthday, helps me to never forget her birthday.

I can't believe you buried "We won first place." in that list. That's great! :)

Speaking of Groundhog day, have you checked out this site yet:

It's Punxsutawney Phil's official site!

Quiet Rennie

I thought you had been too quiet.
I was getting ready to phone!

Groundhog Day is the day I try and watch the movie because it reminds of all of life's possibilities and how to achive them.

Its also the day the grandfather who raised me died and I try to remember him.

Re: Quiet Rennie

Those are both good things to remember today!

Congrats on skating well and on winning first place!

And happy Groundhog Day to you as well -- it's also one of my favorite holidays, since underneath the silliness it's got nice pagan roots.

Re:

Thanks! I must confess I like it for its silliness; I didn't know it had pagan roots. I love it because, really, it's a very ridiculous holiday. Plus, much MUCH less commercialized than most holidays!
