I even think it's kinda cute the way / You poison my coffee just a little each day
Today my hotmail spam folder was filled with messages about dating. Online dating! Dating services! Need a date? Find the perfect match! A good 90% of the message titles had something to do with dating.

I deleted them without reading them, of course, But now I am wondering: does my spam know something I don't? Am I in need of dating help? Am I about to get my heart broken? Do I need to date some new internet stalkers? I didn't think so...I thought that my dating life was fairly satisfactory (at least as okay as a 30-something single girl can expect these days).

Or perhaps it is just that spring is in the air, so the Spam People have decided that we are all extra frisky this week.

I'd vote for the latter reason...
;-)

I suspect most of the people who write internet SPAM think about little else...

Most of the spam I usually get is about sex, more than dating. But still, a valid point.

I would guess that any internet dating services you might have been part of probably sold your email address to the dating spammers. But then, I'm generally mistrustful of how companies (ab)use personal information.

I don't think so, because it's hotmail spam (not an address i've used for such services in the past).

Still, I suppose ya never know!

Out of the curiosity I checked my Hotmail spam mailbox and also found the fair amount of messages from on-line dating spammers.

They might collect the information from MSN profile, or they might just randomly sending spam to everyone.

No breast enlargments, thanks.

"...or they might just [be] randomly sending spam to everyone."

Ya think?

"Do I need to date some new internet stalkers?

It used to be called romance, now it's called stalking.

...In other news, Juliet Capulet has taken out a restraining order against Romeo Montague after he attempted to gain access to her bedroom through a balcony.

"I thought he was cute when I first saw him," said the popular teen, "but the next thing I know he's climbing up the wall below my bedroom."
"I mean, as if!" she said, "How desperate is this guy?"
"I've got enough drama in my life," Capulet said, "without dating Spiderman."
Montague was unavailable for comment, as he is being questioned by police for a seperate incident involving the death of Tybalt Capulet.

hee! I think the same behavior can easily be classified as either romantic or stalking, basically depending on how attractive you think the guy is.

I think that the spammers are counting on spring fever to make people lusty and wanting, and silly enough to reply to a spam message.

If you need a new internet stalker, let me know! You are close enough to stalk :) Anyone that can use a Weird Al lyric as a title to a post is definately stalkable.

I also have been getting copious amounts of dating spam, so I wouldn't worry about some sort of sinister hint :)

Whew! Thanks for the reassurance!

I still remember the way that you laughed / when you pushed me down that elevator shaft

Spam is all-knowing, all seeing, just like horoscopes. Exactly like them.
