Leftover Lunch
I was walking into my office, holding a restaurant to-go box.

"What's that," asked my coworker, as he held the door open for me. "Did you bring me breakfast?"

"No, it's my lunch," I told him, studying it dubiously. "I left it in my car though, so I'm not sure if it's still good." I opened the box and gave it a cautious sniff. "Still smells good...."

"What is it?"

"Veal, with artichokes." Leftovers from mothers day dinner. It had been very yummy, and I was looking forward to finishing the rest.

He wrinkled his nose as he studied the box, looking a little appalled. "You left it in the car for how long? Overnight?!"

"No no, just this morning. I'm not that bad. It's been, let's see, when did I get here? About an hour. Less. I think it's still okay."

"Oh, that's not so bad. It should be all right," he reassured me. He started to walk back to his desk, then tossed over his shoulder: "...and if not...at least you'll get tomorrow off!"

Heading for the refrigerator, I laughed. "Hey you're right; it's a win-win situation!"

Edited at 2pm: I ate the leftovers, and they were yummy. Hopefully all's well! I need a nap though. *yawn*

Should be ok, just a short time ago, it would have become frozen food in an hour.

So true! That's one of the handy thigns about winter, being able to leave your leftovers in your car.

today it's nice and warm, should be in the 80's. Finally.

While it should be fine, I wouldn't call food poisoning a win-win situation ;)

Ha! It's easy to make jokes about such things when you're healthy... I know if it actually happened I'd be completely miserable, hardly enjoying my day off at all.

ewww...

as someone who just went through a stomach virus, I don't wish it on anyone...

Good point! It's easy to make jokes about such things when feel find and far-removed from the idea. Though I know if I actually got sick, I'd be totally miserable.... Staying home sick always seems so nice theoretically, until it becomes necessary.

renniekins From: renniekins Date: May 12th, 2004 11:05 am (UTC) (Link)
Yeah, baby cow. It's yummy, especially with artichokes.

I know, not sure I could bring myself to eat that. Or deer.

Why? I know some people have moral problems eating veal, but deer? Or is it a question of taste, or health, or something?

Bambi. I can't believe what those fucking hunters did to Bambi's mother.

Ever hit a deer? Stupid forest rats. The only way I wanna see a deer is on a plate.

Kill Bambi, kill Bambi's mother! Kill!

Seriously, there's a big problem with deer overpopulation around here. The only predators they have are deer hunters and motor vehicles. Better to have someone shoot them, than to have them die in the road, or starve to death.

I love you, Kathy. :)

Bambi. I can't believe what those fucking hunters did to Bambi's mother.

The very first thing I thought when I read the above post was something extremely unpleasant regarding motorcycles and deer. Then I read your post.

(grin) You rock.

(And for those that don't know, the previous poster is the survivor of hitting a deer while on her motorcycle. Could explain a little bit of the bias. (grin) )

Just so you know. The deer strike story I linked to in my post is not my story. That's someone else. My deer story is considerably less dramatic. No injuries to speak of, to me or the bike. Just an instant of sheer terror followed by a few days of muscle aches, and the cleanup of deer snot from my tankbag.

Good to know that your deer story isn't as bad!

Up dates?

About any changes in your intestinal condition.

Or hair colour for that matter.

I wish I had your hair problems, although I could dye what's left.

Re: Up dates?

Feeling fine, and my hair is still the same color.

Yeah, dye it -- could be cool! And with short hair, the "growing out issue" is not nearly as problematic.

Re: Up dates?

Any suggestions as to colour?
