Breakfast of Champions
I have a variety of leftovers in my fridge right now. I love leftovers, but I'm getting worried about finding the time to eat them, as I have a bunch of social meals planned for the next few days. I don't want them to go bad, and I do enjoy eating leftovers -- that's one less meal I have to struggle to find myself.

It was this train of thought which led me to eat leftover macaroni and cheese (from boston market) for breakfast this morning. I've never had mac and cheese for breakfast before, but I see no real reason "lunch" items cannot be eaten first thing in the morning. So I heated it up, stirred, and munched away on the pasta and a diet vanilla pepsi before leaving for work.

Now I'm thinking that it was not such a great idea. I'm at work now, with a somewhat-upset tummy. I don't really know why -- perhaps it was just too much cheese? I went to the bar last night, but I only had one drink, so that couldn't be it. I often drink pop in the morning, so that's not the problem. Maybe the combination? Odd...I hope it goes away quickly.

I think I'm feeling a little better now than when I started this entry a half-hour ago. But I've learned a lesson today! I'll try to remember that mac and cheese isn't the best of breakfast items.

Well, it certainly sounds like a delicious breakfast but I hope your tummy feels better soon.

Thanks, it was very tasty at the time! And my cats enjoyed licking the leftover sauce.

My tummy is doing a lot better now...yay!

One of my cats goes crazy for Parmesan cheese. Can't get enough.

Why, I wonder ? I just don't understand <:?

Mac and cheese is usually pretty blad, I think it's adding the diet vanilla pepsi and all that carbonation that did you in.

Could be. Fortunately whatever it was, it seems to be going away.

Some foods just don't work well as breakfast for some reason. I think the worst heartburn I ever had was the morning after I had chili for breakfast.

hm, yeah, chili first thing in the morning doesn't sound very appealing.

For some reason it sounded good that day, and I didn't have anyting else to eat. I chalk it up to a learning experience.

I say why not....

they have breakfast burrittos too don't they?

... although I find the idea of eating mexican food that early is also just a tad odd...

hope tummy feels better soon! (before lunch)

Re: I say why not....

Yes, I've even tried breakfast burrittos! Pretty good. I've successfully eatten all kinds of random stuff for breakfast. Maybe it wasn't the food after all, maybe it was just an adverse reaction to having to get up and come to work.

The tummy is getting better. Yayness!

Re: I say why not....

Hey, Mexicans eat breakfast too you know.

Re: I say why not....

haha! In Mexico, they probably eat Mexican food almost every day, huh?

Re: I say why not....

Yup! If it's made and eaten by Mexicans, it's Mexican food by definition! Just across the Texas border, I ate genuine Mexican cornflakes with genuine Mexican milk on them and later I drank genuine Mexican Coca Cola. And I'm here to tell you they did not taste like hot sauce.

I grab leftovers from dinner for breakfast all the time in the morning..

Mac and cheese would be a bit tougher to eat while driving though...

Yes, sounds messy! Recently I've gotten into the habit of nibbling on something while reading LJ in the morning. Not really a good habit, because it tends to make me late for work. But that's a whole 'nother story. (:
bob_the_mighty From: bob_the_mighty Date: August 27th, 2004 12:15 pm (UTC) (Link)
That is the reason I started grabbing leftover dinner items to eat while I drive...so I don't end up late for work.

Heh, if I read LJ in the morning I think I'd miss work.

Well not exactly MISS it... I just wouldn't BE here.

heehee! Yep, 'tis a problem. For awhile I had a rule, "No LJ in the mornings," but somewhere I stopped obeying it.

Perhaps it was the soda?

I thought the canonical breakfast of champions was cold pizza. Beer was optional.

In case I've never mentioned it to you, I learned in college that a chili omelet for breakfast, when followed by red beans and rice for lunch, is also not a good idea.
renniekins From: renniekins Date: September 17th, 2004 07:11 am (UTC) (Link)
Yikes, I can imagine!! Ouch.

Yes. Tummy explosion imminent.

Sorry, but this made me giggle....

I can laugh at it now, too, my lesson is learned!
