Summer Outfit

Harriet's Summer Outfit
"I just don't understand why she's wearing a life vest," he told me the other day, standing on my porch.

"That's her summer outfit! She had a cute straw hat with sunglasses, but the wind kept blowing it off. I think it's inside here somewhere...."

"But why a life vest? Can't she swim? She's a goose."

"That's true, but well.... she is made of concrete you know."

"Huh, good point." He looked at her again. "In that case, I don't think that little life vest is going to keep her afloat."

"Then it's a good thing I don't live by a lake."

made me think of...

wow, it's exceptionally rare that I get to be first at anything.

Made me think of a Farside I saw not to long ago of a day-calendar turned scratch pad, a couple of fish were commenting that Gary, floating upsidedown, was doomed to "sleep with the humans" who had styrafoam blocks on his tail from the shark mafia. ;)

Thrice the brinded cat hath mewed; thrice and once, the hedge-pig whined

I'm still looking forward to seeing Harriet in her witch's costume.

Congrats congrats re. the Synchro First Place !! Most excellent :)

And now, I think that I need an animal for the outside of my apartment. Perhaps...a Balcony Kangaroo.

Hmm.... ;)

Good Thought

Hey its the thought that counts!

Making her wear a vest reminds Harriet not to go swimming.

(All the other geese would make fun of her anyway.)

Re: Good Thought

This is true. At least I don't make her wear water wings!

Is there really someone who expects logic from a goose? Let along a concrete goose? I think she looks cute in it, and isn't that the *real* reason she's wearing it?
renniekins From: renniekins Date: September 19th, 2004 11:13 am (UTC) (Link)
Come to think of it, I suppose concrete geese are by nature illogical. Yep, that is the real reason.

Just 'cause she's a goose, doesn't mean she floats. I remember one of my girlfriends telling me about a duck she'd seen at her mother's boyfriend's place. The duck had a genetic defect and couldn't produce the oil that covers the feathers of normal ducks. Which meant that whenever this duck went swimming, no matter how madly it paddled its little feet, it sank.

And I love Harriet's summer outfit. Quite fetching.
