Dentists are scary
One is about to drill my tooth. Funny how childish and frightened I feel about this prospect.... Well not a good kind of funny but you know what I mean. My tummy hurts. I wanna go home! I'm dentalphobic.

I'm no longer phobic since I found a really nice dentista. She gives me nitrous (?), has me wear headphones with a cd player and the chair has a massage unit on it. There are even stuffed animals to hold if you need one ;-)

I hope it doesn't turn out as bad as you anticipate!

Really?! Is this dentist anywhere near Troy/Royal Oak?

Yes, on Long Lake road just east of woodward. Her name is Francine Greenfield - she is great!! The staff is really nice too.

Email me if you need a reference, or more detail ;-)

mikapisika is my name on the Y! service - also on the Y!messenger

Sure, yes, although I dunno if one would take my insurance. Can't hurt to ask!

Hope you're feeling better today. Being sick sucks.

My method of getting over dentist phobia was to find a really hot dentist. And he smells good. Good luck!

Ah, get over it.

When I was a kid my orthodontist broke my jaw to expand it and make more room for my teeth.

Nothing a mere dentist does can frighten me.

I feel your pain. I am dentistphobic as well, even though I now have a really great dentist and it hardly ever hurts! I get nauseous and panicky every time I have to go.

Yes, that's precisely the problem. It doesn't really hurt much at all, and I've endured much worse. But just the thought of going gets me freaked out -- it's all mental.

Hugs, hope it went great.

Ask for nitrous oxide it not only relaxes you it blocks out the smell of hot tooth.

This dentist doesn't use it. Which makes me rethink my decision to go with her, although I like her otherwise...

Whatever you do...

...do NOT watch "Little Shop of Horrors" before going for your next appointment. I have a cousin who is a dentist (however he no longer practices, moving to the wonderful world of dental insurance) and he thought this movie gave the dental profession a bad name, even if it was caricaturish. :)
