My Tattoo
As long as I'm sharing, I might as well continue. This icon is a closeup of my belly tattoo. It's actually my second tat, but the first is much simpler and not as eye-catching.

It is a butterfly and an emerging rose, and to me it means rebirth. Metamorphosis.

Beauty emerges from the strangest places, and even the ugliest cocoon has a butterfly waiting within.

(Oh, and the superundies? You can get those at Target.)

I love the tattoo, I can't wait until I'm old enough to get one. Did it hurt?

Yep, the drilling hurts a lot. The only good thing is that the pain (mostly) stops when they stop actually drawing it.

Seahorse grace.

...seahorse grace...?

Shoot. I was paging through windows in the library, hit return on the wrong tab, and my time was up just as I was trying to correct myself... perils of public computers and scatterbrained [ahem] geniuses .. I was trying to say that I found the composition of your new tat especially pleasing, and the general lines of it reminded me oddly of seahorses in the way that seahorses are have that wonderful quality of looking suspended in every dimension up through the fourth...

Er, you are probably better off just nodding and smiling. I'm a madwoman masquerading as a poet--- my explanations tend to obfuscate more often than they elucidate .

Actually, that's pretty cool. I can definitely see, or maybe just "sense", the seahorse shape in it, now that you point it out. In putting the two separate pieces together, I just went for a layout that I found pleasing. I wanted it to have a feeling of movement.

Until the superundies pic, I didn't know you were tattooed. Nice design too -- like your butterfly a lot better than my own. Where'd you go to get inked?

Thanks! I didn't know you hadn't seen my tattoo...I'm surprised, usually I tend to show it off. I'll show you next time I see ya.
