Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm leaving TONIGHT! I'm.... kinda packed. The bicycle clothes are easy. Figuring out how much and what "other" stuff to bring is the hard part! Oi.

But it'll all be wonderful, one way or another. I'm so excited!

Everybody be safe healthy and happy while I'm gone, okay? Hopefully I'll have the occasional opportunity to post from the road, but I won't know until I get there....

They have stores in Europe. Most anything you forget/want you can just buy there. Focus on things you won't be able to buy there, like prescription drugs.

Oh, and they have washing machines there, too (though, from all reports, they are pricey to use--like $8 per load).

As always, it just depends on the people, now doesn't it.

I've read several touring logs where people wind up throwing away or mailing back a lot of what they took with them. One guy went so far as to mail back his cricket stove, and ate sandwiches all the way across the US, saying hot meals were too much of a pain, both to make, to carry the stuff, and to clean up.
You probably already know that if you've done any touring though.
Sounds like fun. From all I've read, bicycling is far and away the best way to see Europe.

(Oh yeah -- and I agree that you shouldn't pack too much junk. You can buy most anything you need over there once you decide you need it.)

Yahoo! I'm sure you'll have a fabulous time. Be safe and take lots of pictures. And when in doubt about a souvenir - buy it!

*hugs*

Travel light. If you forget something you really need like toothpaste, you can buy it there. I bought a nail clipper a couple of years ago in Paris - when we couldn't have them in our carryon luggage.

Well, at least you don't have to haul the other stuff around daily. And not having to shepherd your bike your bike through airports means handling 2 bags won't be a problem... No worries.

Have a great time!

challenge yourself

I was just about to wonder if you were two-wheeling it just yet, go have fun. My challenge to you is to *NOT* post from the road. Go enjoy that road instead ;0)
