Sienna to Villa Rosa (Lucarelli) Fri May 20
"We're so lucky!"

We rode about 52 km on Friday. The morning we left Sienna was a little cloudy, which had me worried. With only 2 biking days left, I didn't want any more rain! Fortunately the rain held off, and we ended up with another beautiful day for cycling.

First we had to get out of Sienna, which was a challenge again -- getting out of a big city on bicycle is always a challenge. A few busy roads, a lovely downhill, and a dirt road later, and we were cruising into Pianella.

Our route sheet advised us to stop at the grocery in Pianella for picnic supplies. I had a café latte as well, because the ones at the hotel's breakfast were extremely unimpressive.

Our panniers loaded with mozzarella and tomatoes and meatballs, we hit the road again. After a nice 13 km, we came to a fork in the road. Our route sheet offered a longer optional ride that Lynn and I had been considering. We waved the others on by us while we studied the directions and debated if it was worth it or not.

I am not cheating!

It says "read more" and when you reach the bottom of the page it says "next day" not "do not read rennie isn't finished yet."

The landscapes pictured look a lot like northern California.
