Ski Saturday!

Boyne Nountain was nice today! Weird weather though. Folks joke about the weather here in Michigan: if you don't like it, wait five minutes and it will change. Today was seriously true! Sometimes it wasn't even five minutes between sunshine and heavy snowfall. But he snow was good for skiing, and much fun was had.

Hey - that's what they say about New England weather!

The snow was great for skiing here in Mass., too. 6" of fresh powder fell today, and I skied all night. Whee!!!

Excellent pic, too. Don't curl your toes!

Don't curl my toes....why, what would that do? Am I doing that in the pic? How can you tell?

Glad you got out skiing too!

Oh, it's something really common to do and is wrong. I have no idea if you're doing it or not, but somehow the instructors can *always* tell. I don't know how they do it!

Hmm, SG and I have been talking about sharing a lesson next time. Maybe then I'll learn about this toe-curling thing. Not to mention all the other stuff I'm probably doing wrong....

Lessons are great! It was taking a private lesson that really got me started, where before that I couldn't do anything. It's worth it to have a pro going along behind you, telling you what's wrong.

For example, always keep your torso pointed down the fall line. Let the skis and your lower body turn beneath you; don't rotate your whole body side to side. I had no idea, and it made a huge difference.

Is that what they say everywhere? Seriously, I've heard that now about Texas, San Francisco, New York, and now I get to add Michigan to the list. What the heck?

Anyway, glad you had a nice time skiing!

Yep, I think they say that in lots of places. So it's not all that unique, but it's still pretty darn true!!

Do you folks wear helmets when you ski?
renniekins From: renniekins Date: February 27th, 2006 11:33 pm (UTC) (Link)
Some people do, but I don't. Nor did the weekend's skiing buddies. I'm just bundled up in goggles and a hat.

That looks like a lot of fun. How long did the snow fall last?
renniekins From: renniekins Date: February 27th, 2006 11:34 pm (UTC) (Link)
It WAS fun! The snow came and went all day, but it was never bad. It just added to the "ambiance".
