Quick question on annotation: when proofing text, what is the meaning of the little squiggle that looks kind of like a backwards 3, with lines sticking up from the top and bottom?

Oh, and I got an A- on that scary assignment I was working on all weekend!

Congrats, and I couldn't find the proofreading symbol, I've seen it but it didn't show up in the lists I looked at.

are you talking about this: § ??

if so, that's the symbol for noting a section. more fun/funky symbols are here, in case that's not it: http://tlt.its.psu.edu/suggestions/international/accents/codealt.html

(:

hmm, i don't think so. the prof wrote it by hand on my paper, so it's not entirely decipherable. i think it might mean "this shouldn't be here", but it doesn't look like any of the symbols i've seen!

Oh well.... (:

not quite... i don't know what it is! my prof wrote it a few times on my paper. hopefully it doesn't turn out too important though, he seems to have liked it anyway.
