I'm so sleepy this afternoon! Thank goodness it's friday, and the beginning of a long weekend to boot. Just gotta make it through a few more hours, then I'll have a few days off. That'll be a good thing. I have an exciting weekend planned of laundry, organizing, unpacking, and euchre. It will be good to spend time at home though.

On the plus side, I rode my bike to work today. I miss my European bike though! Twelve continuous days of riding many miles on that bike makes my own feel foreign and unfamiliar. I named my Swiss bike "Blaze". His full name is Blue Blaze of Glory, but I call him Blaze.

The bike I rode today, my bike, is named Red. This weekend I think I'll ride my other bike, Silver Jr. Silver is shaped more like Blaze, but he has a flat tire so he's been on the disabled list while I've been too lazy to fix it.

I'm really just typing in an effort to wake up. I'm drinking Diet Pepsi for the same purpose, but that fact is less self-obvious on the internet.

Was this posted between 3 and 4pm? I used to do just that... get the 3 O'Clock Slump, be desperate for a ten-minute nap, but no... have to stay vertical, stay active, at least look as if I was working. Oh boy... well, I hope you have a very restful and productive weekend!

My bike is called Jules. Not 100% sure why, but I think it's because he's the first ATB fancy-schmancy bike with changeable wheels and more than three speeds, and all that stuff, and he's a D-frame built for a bloke, and my first boyfriend's name was Alan James Julius... or something.

I haven't ridden Jules properly for years. Poor baby is hung up on a bike hook in the workroom with both tyres flat. I really need to get him out and get riding again.

Jules is a good name. I'm sure he misses you!

I bought him as my 40th birthday present to myself. Managed to ride halfway on the London-Brighton Bike Race in '95... long story... trouble is, I've had a big belly since first giving birth, and basically I have to choose between bending over and power-pedalling, or sitting up straight and breathing. Belly gets in the way of breathing while bending over! A few more pounds need to come off before I can really ride him again.

Back to the local public swimming-pool...

...and amazingly when you leave work you'll have energy again! :)

HA! That is so true.... funny how that always works, isn't it?

What is the difference between Red and Silver Jr., other than the names?
renniekins From: renniekins Date: August 31st, 2007 11:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
Red is an upright hybrid (see icon), while Silver is a touring bike with dropped handlebars (see my current default icon).

I'm sleepy too... but I should really mow the lawn... but I'm sleepy...
renniekins From: renniekins Date: August 31st, 2007 11:10 pm (UTC) (Link)
I sympathize! Pity your lawnboy is so unreliable... did you manage to get it done yet?
netmouse From: netmouse Date: August 31st, 2007 11:37 pm (UTC) (Link)
Yeah... lawn boys who run off to the west coast... *shakes head*

No, I haven't got it done, and now it is getting dark and I've not yet eaten. I am thinking I will tackle it tomorrow.

Gods, but I am lazy today!

I need to name my bike... but the obvious name, Red, is now taken. Rubicund?
renniekins From: renniekins Date: August 31st, 2007 11:11 pm (UTC) (Link)
Ooh, that's quite a name indeed! You could call it Ruby for short.

Yup, it's a challenge. And now it's the weekend, so I'll probably be messing up my schedule all over again! Must try not to though.....

That's what my mum does. She flies from Australia to England every summer, and on arrival here (London) she simply Will Not permit herself the weakness of sleep outside her normal schedule. She adjusts within a couple of days.

But then I swear sometimes she's actually an alien robot... I mean, what normal person considers 5am to be a viable time to get up every day?
