Weekend Partying
I remember when I just got out of college and started working, friday was "go-out night". I couldn't imagine staying in on a friday night, and the question was always "where to go?", not "should I do something?"

Well my 22-year-old self would be ashamed of me now... I frequently enjoy finding myself at home on a friday night with nothing to do. Maybe it's because I'm getting old, or (and this is the theory I prefer) maybe it's because I have more things going on during the week instead. Between working until 7pm and often doing something after work, by friday night I'm pretty worn out!

This weekend I've been especially the Party Girl. I spent friday night reading and doing homework. Saturday I slept in deliciously late (although that is something my 22-year-old self would appreciate also), then spent more time reading and puttering about.

Saturday night I got dressed up a little bit and went to a funeral wake Life Celebration. On the way home, I stopped and did some grocery shopping. Talk about out of control weekend adventure....

I doubt that my younger self had any idea whether the grocery store near her closed at 9:30 or 10pm on a saturday night. I now know that mine closes at 9:30 -- and that the low-fat strawberry-banana yogurt smoothies require the assistance of somebody tall if you want more than 2.

A rather quiet and thoughtful weekend so far. However tomorrow I will go bicycling, an activity of which even my college-self would approve.

Nothing wrong with spending a weekend doing stuff that needs doing.

It is a combination of harder work and getting older in my case that makes life tamer.

as an often partner-in-crime to your younger self, i so hear you. we're not old, we're like fine wine - aged! sleeping in is a delicious delight. though i still don't know what time the super market closes, but i am eternally grateful for my 24-hour Meijer.
