Run Rennie Run
Week one, day one, of the famous Couch to 5K completed! I will get back in shape, and I will "race" in this year's Race for the Cure, oh yes. It won't be a fast run, but it'll be a run, by gum.

Some thoughts:
My left knee hurt some. Right knee felt fine.
I like having a scheduled way of easing myself back into running gradually and carefully.
The 30 minute program didn't quite leave me at 2 miles, so I had to walk a tiny bit more to round it off. This means I only averaged about 4mph, doing 60/90 second run/walk intervals.
I'll get faster as they add more running and less walking.
I feel great right now, sweaty but pleased, and it was never miserable.
Actually the first day was quite easy, but I think that's how it's supposed to work.
The podcast was helpful. Nice having something tell me what to do and when.
I know it'll get much harder to persist over time. I really hope I keep at this and finish the program!
More than hope... I plan to, God willing and the creeks don't rise.

That sounds a lot like how I got back into running. Good luck on your running Rennie. I know you can do it.

Yes, though since I am a bit lazy and skip a few days here and there it took me a month longer.

Last week I switched to running a 5K each day, then a 10 or so minute cooldown, either on the treadmill or on the road (to get home). I've cut my time down my 3 minutes so far.

That's really cool, the program sounds great. I (sadly) don't have a treadmill (yet) and it's too cold to run outside but I've bookmarked it for warmer weather. :)

Awesome. I am glad I took the plunge and bought my treadmill 2 years ago. Even though I don't use it as much as I wish I would, it has still been a great help.

Did you get the Couch to 5k program from me? I didn't know anyone else knew about it in my friends list! I'm ending week 3 right now - I wanted to run outside today, but it rained a bit too much!

No, I've seen it online before, just never tried it until now. It's cool that you're doing it, it's helped inspire me to actually give it a shot! How are you finding week 3? Do you use the podcast? I just finished Day Two, so I have a ways to go yet.

Are you thinking of the Race for the Cure? It's May 31 in Detroit.

You inspired me - I went out and walked today. I walked to the track in the park, and went one mile there. Don't know how far it is to the track; I'll clock it at some point. Here's to tomorrow!
