Ready(ish)
The Race For the Cure is two days away! Anybody feel like donating? No pressure, but donations are always welcome. I still have ribbons left.

I'm as ready as I'm going to get. I ran tuesday (outside, 1.ish miles), wednesday (on my treadmill, 2.5 miles with walking inbetween each mile), and today (on my treadmill, 2.25 or so miles with walking inbetween every .75 miles). Yeah my running efforts have been a bit random. This running thing -- it's tiring, y'know? But yesterday I ran/walked a total of over 4 miles in 60 minutes. Today I ran/walked 3.1 miles in about 43 minutes. So even with several walking breaks, my pace stayed over 4mph. Not too bad. Now I just have to convince myself not to walk.

I can do it, especially when I'm surrounded by other people racing. Tomorrow I'm giving myself a day off, then comes the big day. Wheee!

What happens next -- will I quit running? Retire at the ripe old age of 36? I dunno... I'll decide that later. For now, I'm a runner with a big race ahead of me!

That means I should probably get some sleep.

Most athletes retire in their early to mid 30's. So 36 is a good age to retire.

Re: Race for Cure

Awesome, thank you!

I am currently considering going to NYC that weekend. Nothing is final yet though...

Darn, that'd be a bummer if we didn't manage to overlap here in MI!

Re: Race for Cure

I am arriving on Thursday June 26, not leaving until July 3rd, if you're just gone on the weekend...

Re: Race for Cure

Where's the link again, and how many ribbons can I get? I know many people who heart boobs and should have ribbons.

The link is here:

The ribbon policy is basically "a donation gets a ribbon", but I'm also willing to negotiate.... (:

Re: Race for Cure

Excellent. It just so happens that my timing was perfect to be the person to put you above your goal, too. (Thanks to everyone who procrastinated less than I did!)

4 ribbons would make my world very nearly perfect.

Since I only see you once or twice a year, address info can be had by emailing alrobins at gmail dot com.

Re: Race for Cure

Yay, and thank you! I'll hook you up. The address that you entered on the donation page should work, right? I have access to that.

Re: Race for Cure

Ahhh, yes. That would be my address.

monthly trips

Since you're leaving Saturday night, and I am arriving in about a month, I need to ask: are you leaving on June 28th (a Saturday) which will be night of a party in Ferndale)?

There's nothing wrong with walk breaks! I take them all the time, even in races.
renniekins From: renniekins Date: May 30th, 2008 01:59 pm (UTC) (Link)
Really? I feel guilty whenever I do, because it feels like cheating...

Read some Jeff Galloway running books. By the time he's done with you, you'll be like me and feel guilty for not taking enough walk breaks.

Oops, that was me (Thenisaid). I haven't bothered to log in.

There's always another race.

My dad's cousin ran well into his 80s. Even if you retire from running, keep walking.

Oh I will keep moving, even if I stop running! Walking, biking, skating, climbing, etc, etc....

depending when you officially announce your retirement, you *could* push it to 37 (;

run well and be safe, chicka! i'll be rooting for you from afar (:

*grin* I'm only 36, darn it, and I'm going to cling to that as long as I can! However yes, the retirement might happen at 37. (:
