Around 10 or 12 years ago, my brother and sister and I planned and executed our very first Siblings Weekend. We chose a well-known city that none of us had been to - Vegas - flew from our separate cities, and met there for a long weekend.
We had a blast. It was fun to get together "just us kids" again, even though we were all in our twenties or so by then. We stayed at Circus Circus, walked up on and down the strip checking out all of the ultra-fancy hotels and casinos. We put $40 each into the slot machines, and came back with around $10 total. But who cared... we were in Vegas!
Eventually the big city lights became too much for us. We rented a car and left town. We visited Hoover Dam, and went for a hike in Red Rock Canyon. In retrospect, we all agreed that while the whole vacation was fun, the best part was our "leaving town for a day" day. I guess we're just not Vegas people - but I'm so glad to have been there and seen it for myself.
One of my favorite pictures of me and my siblings was taken there at Hoover Dam. M and I tried to recreate it last week from memory. We did a half-way decent job - but it turns out that somebody had built a giant bridge in our absence, where there was none the first time around!
