The Five Men You Must Have in Your Life at All Times
Jill Conner Browne, author of The Sweet Potato Queens' Book of Love, offered some sage advice on men. Basically, as she explained it, there are five men which every woman must have in her life. It is a mistake to look for all of these characteristics in one man, as that is virtually impossible, and such a search will only lead to heartache.

The "Five Men You Must Have in Your Life at All Times" are as follows, in no particular order:

  1. A man you can dance with.
  2. A man you can talk to.
  3. A man who fixes things.
  4. A man who pays for things.
  5. A man who is good in bed.

The search is simplified by the fact that only one of the five men really needs to be straight. Also, you don't need to be "involved" with any of them necessarily, so you can share some of these guys with other women -- so long as each man is available when you need him.

Hmmmm...looking at Freekee:

1. A man you can dance with.
We've danced on top of a picnic table together, danced in a gazebo for few seconds, but found slow dancing to be a little clumsy. We need to work on that.

2. A man you can talk to.
That's been one of the strong parts of our relationship. We talk about everything. And if something is bothering one of us, we resolve it immediately. Nothing sits and festers.

3. A man who fixes things.
He's been amazing with all the fix-ups he's done around my house, and he has big plans for more.

4. A man who pays for things.
I think even more important than a man who pays for things, is a man who can manage money well. Thumbs up on this one.

5. A man who is good in bed.
I'm smiling big smiles...nuff said...

hmmm. (keeping in mind that this is really just for fun, not Written Law or anything...) If he can manage money well, but doesn't actually pay for things, then he's not really fitting into #4! Although I do see what you mean.

So you need a man you can dance with, and maybe a half of a man who pays for things. (I counted up on my current boy, and he got a lot of halves, so I think that's legal.) So that's pretty good...you only need 1.5 additional men, instead of 4...you're doing very well indeed!

Re:

Oh he does pay for things, but I pay my share when I can.

So, how many additional men do you need?

I think the idea that one man could fill all those roles goes against everything the Sweet Potato Queens hold dear. Alimony, the Promise they never deliver, and getting expensive guilt-induced presents.

humm.... makes you stop and wonder..... lol....
it is an interesting concept-
however, isn't it tantamount to setting your proverbial sights for 'a hilltop' rather than 'the stars'?

Always try to do all five, just can't seem to find the women who appreciate it.

Of course, it depends what your priorities are, because if you can't dance...
