Baby Story
My dad was showing off pictures of his new grandson this evening, and he commented, "He doesn't really do much. Mostly he just eats, sleeps, and allows himself to be held."

He then said to me, "You know, when you were born, we had kittens at the same time. I'd have to say, the kittens were a whole lot more fun than you were! There's really no comparison."

Kittens you can play with and not really work about hurting them, not so much with human babies (opps, amusing you are human). May you should buy him some kittens so I’ll have something to play with since the baby is in Illinois.

Probably true though, cats don't keep you up most the night.

When Jasper was born, I would just sit there and watch him for hours as he slept, observing every slight change of expression, listen for the subtleties of his breathing, feel the warmth of his body. It was better than TV.

hee! that reminds me of my mom. the other day, she showed me a picture of a baby in a magazine. she said, "isn't that baby cute?" and then, after a second, she said, "but you know? it's nowhere near as cute as, like, a basket of puppies."

What a cute comment! And I have to say, I've had babies and kittens and can see his point!
