Last night I just hung out in my new hotel. Didn't much feel like going out or doing anything, so I just relaxed. I watched some junk on television, then went to the hotel bar. I had a drink and a salad, and I watched the end of the Cubs game (alas).
There was a guy two stools down from me in the bar, and we commiserated a bit on the game. At first he seemed kind of cute and friendly. Somebody to chat with at least. Gradually though, he became creepy. He kept staring at me with this big smile. Some kind of cross between a boy who's just met a puppy, and a scary predator. Or both, I don't know. A couple of times I would say "What?", and he would keep smiling and say "I'm just listening..."
I was glad he stayed two stools away. Our disjointed conversation quickly turned from baseball to what I was doing that night. I told him I was doing nothing, that I'd been sick and would go to sleep early. Then he asked again, and then he asked if I wanted to go somewhere. I declined, and I paid my bill quickly. I made sure not to let him see the hotel room I'd written on the bill, then I headed back to my room.
Creepy hotel bar guys...yuck.
Today's the last day of the conference. Not quite sure what I'm doing next, aside from visiting with simplykimberly tomorrow evening! Think I'll be a bit touristy first...I have a little bit more energy than I have the past couple of days. Not much, but a little. It's been a nice trip, productive, but a little bit weird.
