Weekend Relaxing

There is a strange little part of me that wants to start getting ready for Christmas. Most of me wants to squash that part down as I scold, "Not until after Thanksgiving! Stop it!" It's challenging, when surrounded by Christmas paraphernalia everywhere, to not feel like the season has begun already.

I went shopping on saturday and I spent a ridiculous amount of money on underwear. Oh yes Victoria darling, you own me. I now have 3 pretty new bras (I'm wearing one now. It makes me look nicely full.), and 4 pretty pairs of panties. However, I remembered yesterday evening that I received a bonus last week at work. So it's okay really, to splurge on something pretty for myself.

Saturday night I went to a party for D's birthday. I saw a whole bunch of friends. It was great to catch up...I don't think I spend nearly enough time with friends these days. I also got to spend some quality time with C, which is always nice. I'm glad we've remained friends.

Yesterday was a wonderfully warm day, perhaps the last we'll have this fall, so I spent some time enjoying it. I walked to the drugstore and picked up a few items I needed. I tried to buy marshmallows, but they didn't have any. Neither did 7-11. But I enjoyed a nice walk anyway, and now I have milk and cereal and some breakfast bars to eat.

(My kitchen had grown frighteningly empty of food. I opened the refrigerator on saturday and discovered that my only options were: 4 varieties of diet pop, 2 dill pickles, applesauce, or some veggie burgers that I hadn't eaten because I really disliked the first one I'd tried. I ate another veggie burger anyway, and even putting a bunch of honey mustard on it didn't really help the taste.)

After skating last night, I stopped at the grocery store and finally found some marshmallows. I also got chocolate, graham crackers, and 2 frozen Lean Cuisine pizzas. Things were definitely looking up.

Then F came over, and we went for a motorcycle ride! That was really neat. Then we lit a campfire on my deck...probably the last one of the year. It was a lovely night, and the fire burned well. The s'mores were tasty, the marshmallows very sticky. My hair smelled like smoke. My hammock was comfy. I stayed up way too late enjoying it. A good way to end the weekend...even if I'm tired today.
