Chilly today

This morning I woke up with a brutal headache. Three Advil and some cat-cuddling later it was almost gone, and I was ready to attempt to start my day. I took out the garbage, showered, and off I went to work. The weather has been temperamental recently, so I dressed in layers -- a t-shirt and a fuzzy-but-fairly-light sweater.

At work, we have occasional charity fundraisers. For example, they'll pick days where you can wear shorts to work, if you donate a dollar to whatever the selected charity is. We just got a notice that they'll be having one of these next friday. A couple of guys in the office were thrilled at the opportunity. The original email said it would be monday, then it was corrected to friday...they were both so bummed. They were talking about how nice it would be if it were both days, or every friday, or even every day!

The thing is: I am freezing today. I'm cold enough that I pulled my hooded sweatshirt on over my other two layers, and I've zipped it all the way up. Whenever my hair moves to expose part of my neck, I get a chill down my spine. I can't imagine wearing shorts right now, yet these two guys were thrilled by the idea! Too weird.

Now I know men are often warmer than women are. I also know that since it's my time-of-the-month, I might be a little anemic. Furthermore, I realize that these are both big guys. They probably have more bodyfat than I have body. (Okay, perhaps I'm exaggerating, but not much.) But seems weird that we should feel such extreme differences in the very same temperature!

On an ickier note: I was just in the restroom. The first stall I entered had urine splattered all over the seat! What was the girl doing in there....dancing while she was going??? How extremely disgusting. Why can't people at least clean up after themselves, if they're going to make such a nasty mess? Yuck.

Tongue Bumps

Well, I've warmed up now, but my tongue hurts. Am I the only one who has these problems? You know, when you have this tiny bump somewhere on your tongue, which is very painful? You can't see it or anything, when you look in the mirror, but it hurts whenever it touches your tooth or whatever else. I get them occasionally, and then they eventually just go away as mysteriously as they came. Does anybody else have them, and more importantly, can anybody tell me what they are? I always theorized that they were some kind of strange tongue-pimple. Somebody I spoke to once said that she thought they were from an infected taste bud or something. (See? I'm not the only one who gets these after all!)

Anyway, today I had a tongue-bump, and it was bugging me. So as I sat at my desk quietly coding away, I was messing around with it. Like you mess with anything abnormal in your mouth, a loose tooth, dental work, whatever. I'm incapable of leaving such things alone, and I believe that most people are like me this way.

I came up with the "brilliant" idea of attempting to pop it, in order to make it go away. It was bugging me. I wanted it gone.

Well, popping it is not the solution, it turns out. It was messy, very painful, slightly bloody, and now my tongue-bump is larger and more painful than ever. Darn it all. I wish I knew how to fix it, and better yet, how to keep such things from coming back. Anyone? Please help.
