Tired Knee

Well, I made it through my first day back to the office successfully, but it definitely took its toll on me.

My leg has been "weight-bearing" for a week now for short distances. At home I've been able to simply leave my crutches by the door in a Tiny Tim sort of fashion. ("I see a vacant seat," replied the Ghost, "in the poor chimney corner, and a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved.") I use one or two crutches whenever I leave the house, but I've been walking around my home unaided without a problem.

This morning when I stood up, my knee nearly gave out on me. It wasn't re-injured, but it was definitely weaker and more tired than it has been in quite awhile. I successfully walked around my house this morning, but with more of a limp than usual.

Note to self: 66 steps, plus physical therapy, plus my first day back at work, plus shopping afterwards just might be a little too much to try all at once! Even though I iced and elevated it, as soon as I got home. The fact that I (once again) had a terrible time falling asleep last night after my unplanned nap probably didn't help either. I know my knee needs more sleep than I'm getting right now.

Oh well, live and learn. I'm working a full day again today, but I have no PT until tomorrow. I'm also putting more weight on my crutch today, I'm letting the knee rest, I'm icing it right now, and I'll go directly home after work. My goals for this evening are: (1) finally do my taxes, and (2) stay awake until I actually go to bed for the night! I'm such a wild woman.
