I tore a nail last night. This isn't unusual: my fingernails are soft flimsy little things that I keep trimmed short in an effort to avoid tears (either pronunciation is applicable). The only oddity is that it's a thumbnail. Actually the torn nail isn't the oddity, it's the extra-short nail now that I've trimmed it. No wait, even that's not the oddity...
Maybe I should start over.
Last night I trimmed my right thumbnail extra short after having accidentally torn it. (Who tears nails on purpose? Oh wait, I'm getting off track again.) This was not a big deal, until I tried to use my Treo today. I type on my Treo with both thumbs, and in fact I often use my thumbnails
instead of my actual thumbs. Because the keyboard is quite small.
It is really weird
trying to type with my thumbs, when the nail-lengths are significantly different! It never occurred to me that it would feel so awkward. After several tries, I finally gave up and trimmed the other nail extra short to match. Oh well, my hands are functional not fancy.
Speaking of typing, my ebay issue
is mostly resolved. (Speaking of transitions, that one was really pathetic!) I've been trying to sell off a few old tech toys I have taking up space in my house -- usually eBay is great for that, but this experience was quite disappointing.
Even though I specifically listed in my auction that I only ship to the US, I am big-hearted, so I gave the guy one chance to paypal me. Just on the off-chance
that it maybe
wasn't a fraud.... He quickly sent a fake email that "kinda" looked like it was from PayPal, but of course there was no money in my actual PayPal account. So I gave up: I notified eBay of the two incidents, and this morning they had canceled his account and credited me my sales fee back. So all's well that ends well, although now I have to list my item again
and hope a real person buys it this time. *sigh*
Speaking of... umm... actually I have no transition here. I'll just have to jump right in. This morning I had half a donut. The top half. I know that donuts aren't especially good for me, but I'm a sugar addict. The top half is generally where the icing and the yummiest parts are, so if I'm not hungry enough for a whole donut I'll just eat the top. The bits I like.
Actually I'm kind of freakish that way in general: I often dissect my food to eat just my favorite parts. Most people save those for last, but I figure that my way helps me to eat less. If I get full before I've finished -- well, only the less-interesting food remains. Makes it easier to stop when I'm I'm full, instead of over-eating just because there is still food in front of me.
So there you have it, the reason for this morning's poll
. Wasn't it fun? I enjoyed it, at any rate.
I'm so sleepy and distracted today! Must try to focus on work for awhile....
