Walking in the Rain

I'm home safe and sound, and I've made excellent strides toward de-jetlagging myself. Yesterday I arrived in my house at about 3pm. I counted three cats, I avoided napping, did some shopping, had a good dinner out, and saw Iron Man. I woke up too early this morning, but I will avoid napping today. Tonight if I go to bed at a "normal" hour, I think I'll be all reset for the workweek tomorrow.

Today I had thought to perhaps go for a bicycle ride. I dawdled too much though, and all of a sudden I heard tons of wind blowing. The weather went from "hot and sunny" to "oh my gosh is this a tornado?" in seconds flat. Then there was lots of rain.

I was bummed for awhile about missing out on my ride, then I remembered: I like walking in summer rain! Getting soaked in warm rain is delightful, so long as you aren't going anywhere you need to arrive clean and dry.

So I put on some shorts and a t-shirt that I didn't mind getting wet and dirty. I put on my river sandals and a hat, and outside I went. The heaviest of the rain was already over (to my disappointment), but I still enjoyed getting fairly wet as I strolled around the neighborhood. I looked for deep puddles that I could wade through, and wandered through my park and down damp streets.

I walked by a guy standing on the porch at one point. He was talking on his phone. I caught his eye and smiled at him. "Want to get out of the rain?," he offered, gesturing toward his porch roof.

I held out my arms to touch the water, only a light rain by then, and smiled. "It's nice out!"

"Okay," he said, clearly not understanding, and went back to his phone conversation.
