Summer Books

13. That Hideous Strength, C.S. Lewis (audio)

12. A Storm of Swords, by George R.R. Martin (paper)

11. Peralandra, C.S. Lewis (audio)

10. Out of the Silent Planet, C.S. Lewis (audio)

It's funny, I've been "reading" (consuming?) so many audio books, that I felt had to identify the paper book in the list there as well!

The three "planet" books were entertaining rereads. I first read them when I was in my teens, and found them fascinating. The way the first one pretends that the trip to Mars really happened, but that it was introduced as fiction because nobody would read it otherwise? That totally captivated my attention. The next two get a little preachy, but they are still well-done. The middle book in particular -- a really interesting spin on what the solar system would be like if the Bible stories were to take place on other planets too, not just Earth alone.

I'm now over halfway through the fourth RR Martin book, and every day I owe my library another dime because they won't renew it. It's a long book! But I'm still enjoying it.... just don't have a lot of time to read.

I'm also listening to The Kite Runner in the car. Fascinating, but sad so far....
