Really Good Coffee
I was a bad friend yesterday. Not only did I visit a coffee establishment that was not the one which supplies my favorite barista's paycheck, I also linked to it in my post's comments! Advertising for her store's competition is a traitor's behavior, and I am deeply sorry.

So (to make up for it)...if you want yummy coffee, you should go to Starbucks! Delicious beverages, higher quality, plus your support will help sherdeb to continue earning her paycheck, keeping a roof over her head, a boy, and a very cute dog. Hooray for Starbucks!

On the plus side, sherdeb is now inventing me a Starbucks version of the turtle mocha, without nuts, which I will enjoy just as soon as she finished up her manager training. Too cool. Now that's the sign of a good manager: being willing to invent a drink to convince you to return to her store.

Of course as I explained to hannunvaakuna and sherdeb over delicious Indian food last night: "sherdeb is much more important to me than Starbucks. Without her there, it's just not the same." I'm looking forward to her return soon.

Last night was great though; it's been way too long since I've hung out with my high school buds. It's also been way too long since I've had Indian food! The combination was perfect.

It was especially nice to be doing something fun since I was brutalized even more than usual at physical therapy yesterday. In trying to break up one of my adhesions, the PT who worked on my actually ended up rubbing the top off a patch of skin! I guess she was a little too over-enthusiastic. Owie.

Starbucks? Starbucks? Oh dear. I mean, your friend works there, and all, but Starbucks? Hasn't jebra ever made you decent coffee?

I think I better shut up now.

At Starbucks I like the espresso drinks, with plenty of steamed skim milk and flavored syrup and maybe chocolate or caramel squirted on top.

No, Jebra has never made me that, although he has made excellent turkish coffee and iced coffee.

And yeah, evil empire and all that, but they keep my friend employed (and made her a manager!), and sometimes she gives me free coffee. (;

You're only saying those nice things to lure me into further acts of caffeination, aren't you? 'Fess up!

It's true, it's true...oh the shame!

(But more importantly...did it work?)

Curse you, woman! I'm helpless to resist the allure of a pretty, undercaffeinated female!

It's not an evil empire thing. It's that they serve truely terrible coffee. That's why you have to pollute it with 'plenty of skim milk', etc. It's to cover the fact that they've started with poor beans, and then burnt them.

I'll be quiet now.

I like the fact that they're part of Evil Enterprises, actually, Dr. Evil is one of my favorite characters. However, the fact that I don't like their coffee at all, when we have lots of non-chain coffee places with good coffee, including Brazil, Midnight Espresso (although I am sad they stopped serving turkish) the Bookstore next to the Dearborn Little Professor, and Sweetwaters, makes it seem silly to go there.

You'll have come down here and try some of our non-chain coffee houses, like Bouldin Creek, Flipnotics, Jo's, Mojo's Daily Grind, Mozart's, Ruta Maya, Spider House, ...

We have a Starbucks down the road... I love the smell.

It always reminds me of flying out to see my Mum, it's become a ritual to have a coffee at Heathrow before I go and then have one when I arrive at Chicago for my changeover.

Unfortunately, Dave doesn't like coffee... so if I go, I have to go alone... which is a little strange.
