It was lovely having them all to myself, but at the same time I wanted to call everyone I knew. I wanted to knock on my neighbors' doors and drag them outside, get your kids out of bed, this is cool!

Tee-hee! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who felt that way. I really hoped that my neighbors would wake up hearing us talking in the back yard and ask what we were doing. The 12 year old boy really would have loved this.

You're welcome for the phone call, I knew you'd really enjoy it. I feared that you wouldn't be able to see them from your area. I'm glad it wasn't the case.

Oh, and simplykimberly, we're NOT far enough north to see these*! I've lived in southern Michigan for 30 years and I've *never* seen them before in my life!

*or so I would have bet on yesterday

i wish i'd seen this a bit earlier!

btw: i saw the northern lights here in Michigan in the fall of 1992 when i was going to school at Central Michigan. they were clear and crisp, even surrounded by all of the lights in the parking lot by the dorms (:

I saw them a few times when I was growing up 20 miles south of Lansing, MI. It's very dark there. I have only seen them once since moving to a more citified area. Bummed that I missed it!
