Happy Monday - cellophane — LiveJournal
the story of an invisible girl
Happy Monday
Mondays are not happy. Sorry, bad subject choice. Maybe I'm just being polite, for all the people out there who love mondays. (Oh, who am I kidding? Who loves mondays??) I'm tired today. Having trouble getting motivated.

On the plus side, I'll have next monday off for Presidents Day. I don't know why my office celebrates Presidents Day, but I'm not complaining. It will be a welcome relief from the usual pain of mondays, but it will make next tuesday worse of course. You don't get anything for free.

I just checked my calendar, and I have only 2 more regular skating practices until the national championships. Eeep, that's not a lot. Hopefully we'll do okay. Last night's practice was kind of uninspired. I was discussing it with one girl, and she said, "I feel like I'm skating through a dream." Yeah, me too. Just never really felt connected. Kind of roboticly doing what I was told, going through the motions. I think a lot of us were like that. Maybe because it had been longer than usual since our last practice?

They gave us last sunday off, since we'd had the midwestern championships all day prior. But this means it had actually been 2 full weeks since our last "regular" practice - the short competition ones we have are much different. Maybe that was enough to throw everyone just a little off, leave everyone a little distanced. The coach kept yelling at us, "Wake up!" Fortunately I skated fine despite that. We all did. It was a decent practice I'd say.

Current Mood: blah blah
Current Music: Wake up, wake up

now I'm all curious

You're a skater? That's highly cool. Your interests list says synchro skating; how many skaters on a team?

Re: now I'm all curious

Yep, I'm a skater! It's a great sport, I really enjoy it. I've been on this particular team for 6 years now. The sport's full name is Synchronized Skating. It's not an olympic sport yet (alas), but it's really neat to watch. The skaters do circles, blocks, splices, at high speed, with lots of footwork, to music.

There are generally 20 skaters per team. I skate at the Adult level, which is less competetive than the "open" levels, but more geared toward people with jobs and lives. Here's my team's website.

Monday, Monday...

Can't trust that day!

But hey- I like Mondays, personally- because it's date night for me and Aus. Yes, that's the day we leave the kids at home and go out to Chinese food when I pick him up from work- and he has Tuesday and Wednesday off from work- so Mondays always mean good and happy things for me.

For the rest of the world, my sympathies for having bad Mondays. My Thursday sucks like that, hehe.

Re: Monday, Monday...

oh, that's a nice tradition! It's nice to look forward to something like that.

I went out to dinner last night after helping a friend run an errand. We almost had Chinese food (except the place was closed, 'cause the errand took forever). I was thinking of you when I suggested it... (:

ugh, mondays are crappy. it's so upsetting to be back in school after the weekend and be faced with a whole week more. Although we have all of next week off.

good luck with the skating!!

::grins:: I need it. . . by the end of this year there's a definite possibility that I'll have either killed myself, my english teacher, or both.
