Cold - cellophane — LiveJournal
the story of an invisible girl
The office is too cold today. Yesterday it was too hot. The climate control here is awful. Although I think it is probably due in part to people messing with the thermostat - I bet somebody was hot yesterday, and turned the temp way down, and now we all must suffer in the opposite manner. Probably the reverse will happen tomorrow, but you just never know!

I hate never knowing what the temperature will be like at work, and never being able to dress appropriately. Also, I'm tired. I think I would be happier curled inside my fluffy down comforter, perhaps with a mug of hot chocolate, perhaps with a shot of baileys, than I am here. I have a jacket draped over my shoulders in a vain effort to warm up.

Oh, and my rude cubicle-neighbor opened the blinds this morning just enough to expose his own window, but so that all the blinds would be in dangling front of mine. Why would he think I would want all of the blinds in front of my window? He just couldn't be bothered completing the very simple task of opening them all the way. I never want my blinds closed, but unfortunately if he wants his closed mine must also be closed (that's just the way the office window is set up). I always allow him to close them if he wants, because I am polite. Unlike him. He was also listening to his headphones incredibly loudly this morning when I came in. That same obnoxious driving rhythm I mentioned earlier. At least that's stopped, but I think it's just because he's at lunch.

Boy I'm crabby today. My other obnoxious cubicle-neighbor was driving me crazy this morning, talking to his son and his wife on the telephone. Practically every other word he uses is "Doh!". Or sometimes he'll use "Doink!". I'm sincerely embarrassed for him. What a pathetic way of speaking; does he have any idea how inane he sounds?? Probably not. He's got a loud voice, and an even louder laugh, and basically everything which he finds interesting or entertaining is something which I find indescribably stupid.

Okay, enough bitching for one entry, I suppose! Things are actually better right now - I'm still cold, but all my other irritations are either working quietly or at lunch. I'm not sure which, and don't really care. Speaking of which, I should probably have some lunch myself. I brought a yummy Lean Pocket.

Current Mood: cranky cranky

bummer.... sorry about the annoyances....
if your blinds are vertical, like the ones I share with a neibour, perhaps you can try and tie a few together and there by have them open, regardless of wether the rest are open or not...
just a thought....
hope you enjoy your lean pocket... ;-)

Not a bad idea! Fortunately the blinds have holes in them, so you can still kind of see out through them. But it's still a much more plesant view when they're open.

Actually I haven't gotten around to eating my Lean Pocket yet - had a Slimfast instead, because I had a meeting to run to. But I'll probably eat it soon....

oy, reading this entry made me wanted to go over there and give your neighbors dope smacks. gah. The only good thing about inconsiderate people like that is that they make you (or me, at least) watch yourself.
At school, I know basically how hot or cold each room will be. . . unfortunately they're all different temperatures. Not too different though, I'm usually ok. But I try to wear like, a sweater or sweatshirt that I can take off if I'm hot.

I keep a zip-up sweatshirt at work, and a t-shirt. So if I'm cold, I put on the sweatshirt, and if I'm really hot and didn't wear something where I can remove a layer, if nothing else I can change into the t-shirt. (I only do that on incredibly hot days though, 'cause it's kind of weird to be changing at work...)

that sounds good. it is weird to change in public. . . yesterday I was wearing a long sleeved shirt and my sandman t-shirt over it, but after gym I was hot, so I just had on the t-shirt, but my science room is cold, so in the middle of class I put on the long sleeved shirt, and then reversed their order by pulling the T-shirt through the color of the other shirt. O.o Anyway, it was very interesting and I'm glad no one commented on it.

The best place I worked for facilities, everyone, except the clerical staff who needed to talk to each other - not a phone center, had a private office with a door (the more junior didn't have windows, only a couple of us had locks), but we could really concentrate on our jobs. Yes, more expensive facilities, less flexible, but the productivity was incredible and we were profitable, some annual bonuses were 30% of our salaries!

Re: Productive

Sounds nice...so are they hiring? Suppose they need any amazing Swing programmers? (:
