Monday morning we got up early and bid a fond farewell to Florence. Dragging our suitcases behind us, we made our way to the train station. It was time to go to find out if all roads indeed led to Rome!
As it turned out, that saying is not applicable for train tracks... but I suppose perhaps they are different than actual roads. Nevertheless, we found a train heading that way. Three hours later, we were in the Eternal City.
Naturally our first order of business was to find our hotel. We had made reservations over the internet before leaving the States, so we headed for the Tourist Information center. The friendly woman there gave us a map and directions on how to walk to our hotel. We dragged our suitcases a few blocks, and soon we checked into our final room in Europe.
We quickly dropped off our luggage and hit the streets again. Armed only with our trusty train-station-map and a determination to see everything, we started walking toward the Colosseum.
