Dinner and Plates
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, eh!

I celebrated it with tuna ahi and lots of great conversation with k8ster the license-plated. (Note to self: I visit with her far too infrequently.)

Oogling her vanity plate, I told her about some of the ideas I've fancied. (Some ideas might need more than one plate.)

rennie (already taken)
supercafragalisticexpaladocious (won't fit)
geekgrl (already taken)

techi (on a lighthouse plate)
renni (on a lighthouse plate)

this is me (won't fit)
love me

You can plan with ideas for hours with this site, it is so fun!

Contributions? Suggestions? Have at 'em. It's really fun!

...And oh, I thought of an unrelated metaphor. You walk into a popular steak restaurant, and you are looking forward to a really good steak. The service is good, the kitchen smells delicious, and you start with salad. The salad is not as good as you'd imagined, so you decide you want to leave, that the steak is no good... but you've only had salad! It makes sense to sit down, cross your legs, pour a glass of wine, and really give the stake an honest try before you decide if it is what you're looking for. Yeah.

That site is fun. Also, my vanity plate name is available and I printed it. Now, to go to Secretary of State. ;)

I could have CARBATA plates in MI if I lived there! I checked WA too, it's available, but way too expensive... phooey...

Mmmmm.... now I want a steak.... but not *your* steak! I've got my own steak! Um, and I already like the salad.... and the appetizers.... and don't even get me started on the desserts here....

Um, anyway, enjoy *your* fine dining experience! May it be ever so satisfying...

Excellent metaphor.

Living and working around Boston I see all sorts of great geek plates: linux, rfc822, unix, vt100, vax; I've even seen "tcp" driving around. It's also fun when I drive up to hike in New Hampshire, because a vanity plate up there doesn't cost anything extra and allows + and - characters, so a *lot* of cars have plates of all sorts, particularly hiking-related: hike-nh, ne4kr (New England 4000-footer), ga2me (A.T. through hiker, Georgia to Maine), luv2hike, etc.

Had the timing worked out differently, I probably would have taken "hiker" here in Mass. But as it was, I made my career switch first, and so my journal (which came much later) matches my car.

You've got some great ideas there for yourself. I'm hard-pressed to come up with others appropriate to you.

Interesting metaphor. Now ... rare? Well done? Nice sharp steak knife? Not too much wine, you don't want to get the munchies...

How about Ren?

Since you went there for steak not salad I would at least try the steak.

Remember to wash you hands first and make sure all the fixins are there as well.

I hate it when the steak is good but they do not have the steak sauce I like and the potato is bad and the veggies suck.

One does not live on steak alone but a good steak is the heart of any steak dinner.

Avoid wine as it might hinder your decision about the steak.

Yes yes! It's been forever since I've seen ya. Visited your store today even, on my lunch break, but you were probably hiding behind the counter. (; you're never then when I stop by! But yes, would love to get together soon. Sometime next week? We can hang out, eat pizza, and help K pack perhaps?

Make sure you have enough money to pay for dinner.

Leave room for dessert.

What have other people who have had the steak said about it and the rest of the meal?
