Treo Buzz

My Treo's been acting up for awhile. The "palm" part of it still works great, but the "phone" part of it is all quirky. Also the email doesn't work right, which is a bummer because it means I can't email-post pictures anymore.

One of the phone's symptoms is a periodic buzzing noise. Oddly enough when I tried my phone post experiment awhile back there was no buzzing, but I know it happens. Sometimes I can hear it, but often it's just the poor person on the other end of the phone who can hear it. They don't seem to like it much.

On doing some online research, it seems this is a common Treo problem. Furthermore, there is a fix documented! It involves taking it apart, which makes me a wee bit nervous. I'm a software person, not hardware! If I can touch it, I can break it, and I'd rather not kill my phone, just fix it. But I figure: it's past warrenty already, and working only tempermentally. I've backed up my data. What's the worst that could happen? (No don't answer that.)

Anyway, there are two popular buzz-fixing approaches: the XiaoBin method and the French method. I'm thinking I'll try a combination of both of them.

Soon as I get the courage to dissect my poor little Treo, that is!
