Day In The Life
Since I was online most of the weekend monitoring stuff, I spend a lot of time exploring friends' pages, and friendsfriends' pages, and so forth. I discovered a nifty new community over the weekend, ditl. It's called "Day In The Life", and the idea is that they pick a day and everybody posts photos documenting their life on that day.

Well yesterday was one of their official Day In The Life days, plus it was my first day with my new camera. So it only made sense for me to participate. I was busy playing with my camera all day anyway. It was a lot of fun! A great way to introduce myself to and experiment with my new toy.

I took a ton of pics that represented everything I did yesterday, and painfully narrowed it down to just 53 photos. Yeah, I know that's still a lot. Consider yourself warned.

7:30am Morning always comes too soon. Fortunately this is a better morning than most, because my sweetie spent the night.
7:55am I have a new camera! I opened it up last night, charged it up, and started playing it. Now I am using it to documente my day.
8:15am Some bleary morning time is spent checking my email and petting the cats.
8:19am Okay, time to get ready.
8:22am I'm wearing one of my favorite undies today! They always make me smile. They say "Boys Lie".
8:28am Let's look out the window. Is it still winter? Yep, looks cold.
8:32am Okay, all ready to go to work.
8:38am My sweetie is leaving too, heading to work then to his own house. That looks cold! There's my house behind him though. I love my little tan house with its green trim.
8:41am Driving to work.
8:53am Goodbye little car!
8:56am I always take the stairs up to my fifth floor office. Eighty-eight steps. The stairwell's pretty dirty, but I love the skylight at the top.
9:30am This is my workspace. We work in the Agile Lab, aka the Batcave.
10:25am I took a picture of my coworkers.
10:26am Then they took a picture of me. (Well really only one of them took the picture, not both.)
11:34am During my lunch break, I meet my sister and go ice skating. My skates look like they have leprosy -- but they don't.
11:47am I do a Spreadeagle
11:48am My sister does a sit-spin into another dimension.
11:53am I do a Spiral
12:44pm I was working so many hours last week, I'm more than a little burned out. Work is quieter this week, so I was bad today: I actually took TWO lunch breaks! Time to go to the mall and meet a couple coworkers for lunch.
12:44pm Over the escalator area, they have hundreds of sparkly white butterflies hanging. It's like ascending through a fairyland.
1:05pm Yummy pop-over
1:55pm My friends
4:01pm Back at work, meeting with the BA.
4:15pm Bathroom break! You can see me in the mirror.
5:34pm I took a picture of my new camera with my Treo. Then of course it only made sense to use the new camera to take a picture of my Treo while displaying its picture of the new camera....
6:29pm I have a mirror on the edge of my monitor, so I can see when people walk behind me. (Now that I have a window/wall to my back, it's less useful.)
6:55pm Still at work. It's gotten dark out!
7:22pm Okay, time to head home. There is construction here, and a lightup sign with radar that tells me how fast I'm going. I always try to get the numbers as high as possible! Too much traffic right now to do much though.
7:28pm I made it home. I like the fact that my car has its own little house with green trim, just like I do.
7:29pm On my porch, Harriet is pleased to see me.
7:30pm Oh right, it's garbage night. I left a bag on the porch last night...better take it to the curb before I forget.
7:32pm Robin is pleased to see me, but only because he's hungry. "Feed me NOW," he's saying.
7:33pm The fishies are pleased to see me.
7:33pm My cowgirl ski boots! I'm a-goin' skiing this weekend.
7:38pm Ahhh... all changed into comfy clothes. Much better.
7:45pm Yum, leftover pizza! Chicken, spinach, and artichoke on thin crust. This was supposed to be my lunch, until I went out with the girls instead.
7:47pm I'll eat on the basement couch. It's cold down here, so there are blankets piled everywhere.
7:47 The kitties seem to misunderstand who the pizza is for.
7:48pm You can look, but it's not yours.
7:48pm We'll all watch tv for a bit while I eat.
8:13pm Ahh. It's good to relax with Scrubs episodes on my ReplayTV.
8:19 Okay, enough relaxing, time for my other Primary Basement Activity.
8:21pm I warm up for a bit in my tie-dye pants, then change into shorts. I never thought how hard it would be to take pictures of my legs when I'm walking fast! There were a bunch that had no legs at all, because I kept pressing the button too late. Finally I got the timing better.
9:13pm One mile of jogging, two miles of walking. All done, time for stretching. Whew, I'm tired!
9:18pm I think I'll just lay here a bit.
9:25pm Back upstairs to the livingroom, to glance at email/LJ a bit. There's my piano, and my bird. I painted that bird myself!
10:02 Time to take off all the unmatching-but-comfy clothes...
10:03 ...and hop into the shower.
10:21pm All clean and refreshed. Back into the bright jammie pants -- now with Tigger slippers!
10:32pm I almost forgot: it's garbage night. That means kitty-litter night.
10:34pm I'll just leave it on the porch until morning. Tigger slippers aren't good for walking around outside.
10:42pm Now it's mess-around-on-the-computer-time! I have a new camera to play with, pictures to upload, LJ and email to read/write, and so forth. Eventually I notice that it is after midnight, so I head back to bed. My bear, Jethro, awaits.

Neat! :)

Such a cool idea, ditl. If I didn't spend so much of my day in the nude playing on the internet and eating cheetos, I'd do it too... :)

I always try to crank that sign up to maximum too. My best so far is 66 mph, which made it flash in annoyance. I wondered if I won a prize for that.

Interesting -- I used to have the exact same headboard on my bed. I never did quite use all of the various drawers and cubbies, though. It was headboard overkill, frankly. The cats liked it as a launch platform for jumping on me at night, however... they often dove from top shelf onto my head.

Yeah, I've seen it blink too. I'm not sure what speed I had for the blinking time, maybe as high as 71? Can't remember though. It's hard to do, because there's usually so much traffic slowing down and merging.

Really?! I love it; I call it my Bed Thing. My cats enjoy leaping from it too. I like having the mirrors and the reading lights. I'm currently using all the storage space, but I expanded into it over time.

I really, really liked that.

I think you're beautiful.

(: (: Thank you.

(my eye is staring at your eye!)

That was fun to look at! Yay! What's funny is that I just saw ditl for the first time, myself, while surfing around LJ, too! I think I may join and submit a day of my own sometime.

Also, in the mall, I totally thought you had caught a weird, releasing of doves moment by the escalators. Thanks for explaining that they were butterflies. I was so surprised when I first saw it! Heh!
renniekins From: renniekins Date: March 24th, 2006 03:02 am (UTC) (Link)
Ooh, you should do it!

the butterflies were so beautiful; I really loved seeing them everywhere. The camera only sorta captured the effect.

I have those same tye dye pants! I've had them for years, but they have some holes now. :(.
renniekins From: renniekins Date: March 24th, 2006 03:03 am (UTC) (Link)
Awesome! Not surprising, since I bought them at a synchro pants. I loooove my tie-dye pants. They're outrageous, but so comfy and fun.

Very nice, but spinach on a pizza, yuck! Well, I do like spinach and then I do love canadian bacon and pineapple on a thin crust pizza.
renniekins From: renniekins Date: March 24th, 2006 03:04 am (UTC) (Link)
Ohhh, don't knock it 'til you've tried it. Especially if you like spinach, because it's very yummy. Next time you're in town, go to Comos and get spinach/muchroom/tomato pizza. Chicken is optional. So good!

So that is why you were up to 2 AM.
joline From: joline Date: March 23rd, 2006 11:51 pm (UTC) (Link)
i love this kind of post! i read/gazed at it all with interest. :) i liked th kitties trying to steal pizza best!
renniekins From: renniekins Date: March 24th, 2006 04:47 am (UTC) (Link)
I'm glad you enjoyed! I love looking into other people's everyday lives.

Those kitties were really funny! I was surprised how interested they were... Robin always likes any kind of food, but Mocha (the first one eyeing the pizza) usually isn't so pushy.

That was lovely. Thank you for sharing it.
devnul From: devnul Date: March 24th, 2006 02:01 am (UTC) (Link)
That was most excellent! I wanna play your piano. :)

What's the huge box in the garage?

Have fun skiing this weekend - be safe!
renniekins From: renniekins Date: March 24th, 2006 03:06 am (UTC) (Link)
I don't play it often enough, myself.

The box used to contain that treadmill. Now it's just a giant box with assorted garbage in it which I oughta haul out to the curb, but haven't quite managed to find the energy for.

Thanks, I will!

You must, must put the bathroom picture at The Mirror Project!

:: pats the pets ::
renniekins From: renniekins Date: March 24th, 2006 03:15 am (UTC) (Link)
Hee -- which bathroom picture? I took a bunch in my own, plus the one at work. I'm guessing you mean the work one? Taking pictures in mirrors is fun. Neat site, I've never seen it before. (although only http://www.mirrorproject.com/ actually points there)

Kitties love pats!

That was fun! You look super-cool in that picture of you driving to work.

Cute, you must have asked your cats to take the first picture :)
thatguychuck From: thatguychuck Date: March 28th, 2006 12:17 am (UTC) (Link)
The cats are very talented.

Not something I'm ever likely to do, given how camera shy I tend to be.
