Better Motorcycle Ride

Happily, I was able to take my motorcycle back to my house this weekend! It seems mostly repaired... I'm crossing my fingers. It's always something though, which is a little frustrating. Currently it's working pretty well though!

Saturday was a lovely day for a ride, and F and I rode our respective bikes over to T's place for a visit. That was fun, chatting for awhile and seeing what he's working on. Then we decided to go to Canton, where there were some fireworks taking place.

We got most of the way there, stopped at Arby's for some takeout, then we were sitting at a stoplight, just as it was starting to get dark. Then a couple people started honking at us, getting our attention. "You have a tail light out! That red motorcycle, its tail light is out."

Oh crapola, that would be me. I glanced behind me and saw that I had, indeed, no tail light. My brake light still worked though, thank goodness. Like I said, it had just become fairly dark out!

Not sure of what to do yet, we proceeded forward. I kept tapping on my brake, to make sure folks behind me noticed me. F knew there was an auto-parts store not far ahead, and we were hoping against hope that it would be still open. After all it was a saturday night, around 9:30.... any store should be open, right?

Well, Murray's Auto Parts was open! What a great store! I couldn't believe it, but I was really relieved. We walked inside and borrowed a screwdriver. Walked out, removed my burnt bulb, walked back in, and without too much fuss we were happily replacing my tail light with a fully functional one!

In the midst of this little adventure, we started to hear booms. Was that... oh no... thunder? No, fireworks. From the very spot our bikes were parked, we had an excellent view of the show! We decided not to fuss around with traffic and getting to the park. We pulled out our sandwiches, sat on a little parking-lot grass island, enjoyed our dinner, and watched the fireworks. Not bad, given that it was unplanned.

We then took a leisurely drive home along Hines Drive. It got a tiny bit chilly, but it was really the perfect amount. I could zip up my leather jacket and was comfortable, yet I could feel that we were riding through the cool night air. It was a good afternoon/evening, and even the glitch turned out perfectly okay.
