I'm glad you didn't go for a spin without any safety gear. I may have ridden around the parking lot, but no more.

Hmmm... Actually, the flimsy shoes thing would probably have prevented me from even doing that. I'm happy you were able to resist temptation and stick with the safe motorcycyle route. :)

Yup, it was the shoes that made me most uncomfortable. Well, that plus the fact that it was so much heavier and more powerful than i'm used to.

more powerful

Or not.

An 883R Sporster makes 41 horsepower.
A GS450L makes 42 horsepower.

And those are stock numbers. A Sportster with LOUD pipes typically makes less than stock horsepower, unless the fuel system's been properly fiddled. Such fiddling costs money and takes time, so most Harley-d00ds don't bother--all they want is LOUD.

*shrug* Well like I said, I didn't actually try it. It needed more throttle than mine to get into gear, and I wasn't comfortable gunning it. Especially without boots, on a very heavy unfamiliar bike....

Just nerves I guess mostly. I'm still so new to motorcycling, so it's hard being way out of my comfort zone (my bike).

But that's good to know. I told him to ride it next week when he visits here, and I'll ride mine to work, and maybe I'll give it a real shot then!
