I vote for doing it. It's hard, but easier than you think it will be. Dissertation = project with long written report. Dissertations aren't as hard as maybe they ought to be either; I've read a couple of Master's dissertations that passed that really surprised me. I'm sure you'll do fine.

The extra line on your resume is a Really Good Thing to have in SE Michigan these days.

Lawrence Tech doesn't offer a masters with a thesis, which is pretty much why I've largely ruled them out for grad school. It's too bad; I could take all 500's after this mythology class I just started and be nearly halfway done with a masters.

I knew that was a big deal for Ph.D. aspirants. I wasn't aware that employers looked for such things.
