Thanks to everyone who filled out the answers part... the things you said were a wonderful combination of heart-warming, thought-provoking, funny, and entertaining! I feel like I should respond to some of the other parts of the poll, because a bunch of them were nifty. Perhaps in a later post I will. But for now, answers to questions...
What is your favorite celebration dessert?
Something that involves chocolate cake and ice cream, possibly with hot fudge or caramel involved as well.
How are you doing?
Today I am feeling sleepy and unmotivated. I'm not doing much; reading and napping, planning on a bike ride, planning on picking up my house, planning on going through my bills. As you can see, so far there are a lot more plans than actualities.
What positive lessons have you learned this year?
Take care of myself. Embrace (physically and mentally) my friends and family. Try to ask for things I want or need. Make my environment a good place to spend time. Don't invest too much in imaginary futures, instead make today better.
What are some dreams of yours you hope to accomplish?
I think I have good things to say, and I want to say them. I'd like to write a book. I'd like to circle the globe. I'd like to try hang gliding. I would like to grow old with somebody.
What's the one thing we could do for you?
That's a tough one. Maybe provide company for meals, walks, or bike rides.... whoops that's three. Maybe just the first. I eat alone too often.
are you or have you ever been poly? as in polyamorous, not polygon-shaped!
Haha! No. I've been "casual" before, but it's really not for me. I don't want to be one-of-many, I want to be the primary love and focus of somebody's life. I want to have a single partner to whom I'm focused, who I see as most-special. I want to mate for life. I always want to have other friends and confidants, but I only want one partner.
What is your quest?
I seek the grail. Well... no I actually don't. To love and be loved in return. Also to be brilliant and interesting while I'm at it!
When you were little, what did you ?
I feel like there is a word missing in this question. However, when I was shorter than now, what did I? I climbed on things, read books, played imagination games, ice skated, played the piano, rode my bike to school, learned stuff, camped, hiked, dove.
Should I have asked if you wanted to drive/go with me to the craft fair in Oak Park on Saturday?
I don't like the idea of focusing on "should have done"s, so I'll go with no. However you are always welcome to invite me to future things.
Not really :) Other than will you come and visit me once I move?
Yes, I'd like that.
how is your day going?
Kind of a lazy so far, but peaceful.
Do you ever go to Sweetwater's in Royal Oak?
Although I've walked by there several times, I don't think I've actually visited.
Movie and cuddle?
What would you like to see in your future, long term?
I'd like to be respected by many, loved by some, partnered with one, and hated by none. More concretely, I'd like to have a challenging technical career, retire young, write fascinating things, and make a difference in my community.
Have you ever punched anyone?
No, although I have slapped (only a couple) people in my adult life.
Can you play your piano? Do you?
I can, and I do, although not as often as I wish I did. I'm not sure why that is.
Ever been surfing?
No. Looks fun though.
Where do you want to be in five and/or ten years? Still in IT?
Yes, or at least computer stuff in some fashion. I like teaching and analyzing, but I need to also spend time making things as well, not just talking about it.
How are you?
A little warm. It's a hot day!
Aaag--how can you be friends with that girl who doesn't like pets? I don't understand! I'm genuinely befuddled and kind of insulted!
Ha! Well she has a bunch of nice qualities. And I don't think she actively hates pets, they just make her all sneezy.
Do you want to go up North next weekend?
Sadly that weekend is now in the past, and I couldn't make it. I want to go in the near future though.
Where would you like to retire one day?
I'm not sure. I don't have a specific place I need to be in, wherever life takes me I guess.
What can I do to be a better friend to you?
Spend more time getting to know me in the real world. I'm too shy to ask sometimes, and I don't like driving tons, but I like to spend time with friends. Invite me over or out to dinner, especially nearby!
Is your success the result of a conscious thought-out business model for your life?
Well no, I'm not even sure what a life business model would entail. I have had goals though, some of which I've achieved. I've worked very hard to get where I am, although some of that is simply because it is my nature to work hard. It never really occurred to me not to go to college just out of high school, and it never really occurred to me not to get a job as soon as I could after. I have always highly valued self-reliance. I wanted something that challenged and interested me, and that would make money. The specifics of what I wanted to do were a bit fuzzy, although I realized that computer stuff was fun and lucrative when I was about 20, so that became a goal.
