Sunset - cellophane — LiveJournal
the story of an invisible girl
The sky was amazing last night. It's kinda cool that I'm only one of several people on my fl to mention it. We all shared the same sunset.

This pic doesn't come anywhere near to doing it justice. I took it through the glass of my office window, and had to (try to) shield the glare with my hands. Unimpressive photo or not, I wanted to capture the moment.

(completely unrelated: I'm staying home from work today. Bleh.)

We had a good one here too, probably pretty much the same as yours. I sent L in for my camera and she took a few as I was working. Here's the best one she took (apparently I left the camera set at ISO 400 so it's a little grainy, sorry)

We had the same sky here. We went out to look when I noticed that the sky in the *east* had turned pink. There were zillions of little clouds lit up in shades of yellow, orange and pink, against the blue backdrop.

I then got to spend ten minutes explaining to K how that sort of thing could occur, and we decided that it might well be due to the fires in California putting dust and soot into the air, and causing different wavelengths of light to make it through the atmosphere, combined with the drop in temperature causing the small clouds to form. Yeah, 100% speculation, but plausible.

Liam pulled me outside to look at it. "Mommy - the sky is AMAZING!"

It was beautiful - I saw it over the lake off of Telegraph on my way back from school at the courthouse. (I have no idea what lake that was, but it's right around Summit Place Mall)

Had about 5 minutes to look at it while driving from "here" to "there". Glad some people got pix.

*feel better soon!*

Yeah, it was doing that just as I was arriving at dance class. I was almost late to class for lingering to look. Nice pic!

Hope you feel better, btw.

it's odd that you post that picture in your journal. I am not sure how big of a Neil Gaiman fan you are... but I just received his second leather bound collection of the Sandman Comics and I was reading it last night.

I stopped at the part where Lucifer has kicked everyone out of hell, locked all the gates and gave the key to Dream. The first scene afterwards has Lucifer sitting on a lounge chair on a beach along the Australian coastline. An old man comes up to him and tells him that he has been coming to this particular beach for several years, ever since his family has passed away and he noticed that in all of those years of observation not one sunset has ever been the same.

The old man tells Lucifer that that's all he ever needed as proof of a God, the ability to create one beautiful sunset after another with out ever repeating himself.

This is Lucifer's response:

"All right. I admit it. He's got a point. The sunsets are bloody marvelous, you old bastard. Satisfied?"

Yes, I had much the same thoughts. It was quite breath-taking, I felt like I was in the middle of some impressionist painting.

Which is silly, I suppose, since Impressionist works were meant to duplicate the actual feelings, and here I was having actual feelings... so, duh on me.

Anyway, it was pretty cool. :-)

I was so taken with it that I immediately SMS'd two friends to tell them to go look at it. (An interesting commentary on life these days, I suppose).

Tonight's was also phenomenal, but I didn't get to see very much of it - I was off to take an exam.
