the story of an invisible girl
Bah! Have gone home, due to Explosive Snotapollooza. No coworker should have to be subjected to being near that.

Stopped at CVS on the way to buy: 2 boxes lotion kleenex, 3 kinds cough drops/supplements, sudafed, 2 hand sanitizers, 1 half-gallon ice cream, and a variety of snacky things. At the register, standing there sniffing and coughing, I added a little thing of medicated lip balm. The girl smiled at me. "Covering all your bases, eh?"

"That's right. Every cold product you offer? I've bought it. Even the ice cream." We chuckled together.

Truthfully the rest of my body doesn't feel sick, just my head is exploding and dripping in a whole other world than the rest of me. Hopefully it will stop that soon.... Unfortunately, my brain resides there also.

Only a half gallon of ice cream?

I do the thing where I buy every possible product too. Then I take the cough syrup, scarf down the sudafed, snort the nasal spray, and eat the snack item until I pass out.

It usually works.

Don't milk products cause more phlegm? And isn't that just what you don't need?

I believe this is mostly an old wive's tale. It may produce more phlegm in some people, if you already have some dairy sensitivity (i.e., allergy). It might also thicken existing phlegm, so low-fat dairy products are preferred.

At least, that's what 5 minutes of Googling told me ;-)

I had thought old-wives-tale, too. But had a friend who is a singer bring it up again, and say that for her (and some in her choir, at least) it did make a real difference. Dunno.

I think I had this ick earlier this week (and my partner had it over the weekend.) Nyquil was our friend, we slept a LOT. And that nasal saline wash/spray stuff is a god-send. It's gross but it flushes you out.

But relax, and sleep well! that is what helps most!

Did you get some nasal saline wash/spray stuff?

I will drop off some special Canadian medicine on the weekend to see if that helps.

"Even the ice cream." Hmmm. Even...the...ice...cream. Yeah. I like the way you think. I do believe I feel an illness creeping up on me; I think I'll go have a preventative dose of something.

Of course the ice cream, its very medicinal! It soothes the throat and calms the coughing reflex I find. Best to stay away from ice cream with bits in it like nuts and chocolate though.

There is not enough noggin room for brain *and* snot. Take a brain-cation until the snot subsides. Dr. Jen said so!
