I'm as ready as I'm going to get. I ran tuesday (outside, 1.ish miles), wednesday (on my treadmill, 2.5 miles with walking inbetween each mile), and today (on my treadmill, 2.25 or so miles with walking inbetween every .75 miles). Yeah my running efforts have been a bit random. This running thing -- it's tiring, y'know? But yesterday I ran/walked a total of over 4 miles in 60 minutes. Today I ran/walked 3.1 miles in about 43 minutes. So even with several walking breaks, my pace stayed over 4mph. Not too bad. Now I just have to convince myself not to walk.
I can do it, especially when I'm surrounded by other people racing. Tomorrow I'm giving myself a day off, then comes the big day. Wheee!
What happens next -- will I quit running? Retire at the ripe old age of 36? I dunno... I'll decide that later. For now, I'm a runner with a big race ahead of me!
That means I should probably get some sleep.
