Selling Stuff
Last night, while trying to go to sleep, I was freezing. I had plenty of covers on my bed, but I was just failing to warm up the underneath part, where I was, enough to get warm. I can't fall asleep when my hands and feet are icy.

As I wiggled around, trying to warm up my sheets and feet, I thought about my electric mattress pad. I've had it for a few years, and it's nice, but it is sized for a "full" mattress, not a queen. Now that I have a queen, I have no electric mattress pad. I miss it! I'll have to get a new one soon, I think.

While these thoughts played out in my head, I decided to sell my old one on CraigsList. A step toward saving up money for a new one! After all I couldn't sleep anyway.... so I hopped out of bed, went downstairs, turned up the heat, and got on the computer. I posted an ad, messed around a bit, then eventually went back upstairs to try again. Eventually, I warmed up and fell asleep. (In fact during the night I even had to remove some covers, because the amount of covers necessary for me to get warmed up is more than I need to actually sleep under.)

This afternoon a woman came over and bought my old mattress pad. That was quick. Woo-hoo, I made $20 today! Yesterday I sold the book I used to study for my my Sun Java exam, so I made around $20 then too. Yay, this is even better profit than baby-sitting -- I did that for just room and board!

Anyway, I've been trying to go through my house and get rid of things I don't use anymore or don't need anymore. I've been posting things to CraigsList, and I'll probably try Ebay soon, but it occurs to me that perhaps there are folks on my friendslist who might want to buy some of my stuff.

Current things I'm selling:

Treo 700p with GPS kit and other extras
men's XL brown leather trench coat
men's XL denim jacket with Warner Brothers embroidery
speed skates (my size)
softball cleats (my size)
scuba gear (men's XL and maybe my size)
desk with hutch
wheeled office chair
men's black leather cowboy boots
monopoly game
pictionary game
old Dell desktop and 15" monitor
tortoise-shell kitty (just kidding...well, unless you really want a kitty!)

There's probably more when I go through my closets, but that's all that has come to mind. If you're interested in something, particularly if you're local, we can talk prices via email (my lj name at livejournal dot com). Shipping is fine too, at least with the smaller stuff.... Lemme know!

Yes, definitely. No wireless card though, so she'd have to plug into your network.

That can easily be arranged. The router is in the room where her computer goes. :)

Hmmm... selling all your stuff on Ebay - reminds me of Avenue Q!
renniekins From: renniekins Date: November 20th, 2008 11:41 pm (UTC) (Link)
I haven't seen it! Perhaps I should.... (:

I do most strongly recommend it. I haven't laughed so much in years. And the London production, at least, is still fresh, sharp and funny.

Did you know that Craig actually lived in Detroit, maybe even Royal Oak, for awhile and is a science fiction fan?

Selling stuff

Rennie, you have inspired me. After the holidays, I'm going to go through all my "good junk" and sell some stuff. Great idea!
