17. The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: A Memoir, by Bill Bryson. (audio) A story about being a kid in Iowa in the 1950's, and moreover a tale about the 1950's in general. Very entertaining, read by the author. Recommended.
16. The Soul Thief, by Charles Baxter. (audio) This one left me unimpressed. It annoyed me even while I wanted to find out how it ended, and when it did end, it didn't really make sense after all. The secondary characters were all interesting - wish the book had been more about them.
