Tedious recap of my weekend...

I'm bored. Well, not so much bored as procrastinating. I'm having difficulty staying focused on my work. I'd rather be somewhere else, doing something else. So maybe I'll type here for awhile.

On the plus side, I have 2 softball games tonight! The spring/summer season ended a couple of weeks ago, and today is the first day of the summer/fall season. Double-headers every monday. Here's to not injuring anything! *cross fingers*

In a continuation of less-than-remarkable firsts, I had my first skating practice of the season yesterday. It went well. It was mostly training and conditioning; we didn't start learning the program or anything yet. It felt good - some of the skating we were doing reminded me of speed skating. I miss speed skating; I haven't had time to go in quite awhile now.

Saturday I spent much of the day in the hot sun watching cars whizzing around a race track. It was classic sports car racing. I have never been to an auto race before. It was pretty interesting, if loud. We went into the "pit" (which was not actually a pit, since it was not below-ground-level), and looked at the different cars, talked to the owners/drivers, and such. Then I went to a party and had sushi and lemon cookies.

Friday after work I went on a brief shopping excursion; I went to Old Navy and bought a pair of jeans and a pair of khakis (which, it turns out, is a really difficult word for me to spell). Some of my older pants have grown unattractively worn and baggy, so I replaced them. I'm wearing my new jeans today, and I'm rather pleased with them. They are two sizes smaller than the last pair of jeans I bought at Old Navy (a year ago?). Tomorrow, I'll wear the khakis...stay tuned! Oh, I also got 2 t-shirts off the clearance rack for $4 each. Yay me.

After shopping, I mowed my lawn, which was quite a chore. For awhile, we had this wonderful drought, during which all my grass was too burnt to grow. I didn't have to maintain my lawn for weeks; it was great. Recently though, the rains have returned. I'd thought my grass dead, but it sprang back to life while I was away last weekend and was suddenly very long and flourishing. The weeds were doing even better than the grass, and the whole thing was in desperate need of some serious trimming. That was my exciting and arduous task friday night...but on the plus side I went out for a nice dinner afterward.
