the story of an invisible girl
Chilly today
This morning I woke up with a brutal headache. Three Advil and some cat-cuddling later it was almost gone, and I was ready to attempt to start my day. I took out the garbage, showered, and off I went to work. The weather has been temperamental recently, so I dressed in layers -- a t-shirt and a fuzzy-but-fairly-light sweater.

At work, we have occasional charity fundraisers. For example, they'll pick days where you can wear shorts to work, if you donate a dollar to whatever the selected charity is. We just got a notice that they'll be having one of these next friday. A couple of guys in the office were thrilled at the opportunity. The original email said it would be monday, then it was corrected to friday...they were both so bummed. They were talking about how nice it would be if it were both days, or every friday, or even every day!

The thing is: I am freezing today. I'm cold enough that I pulled my hooded sweatshirt on over my other two layers, and I've zipped it all the way up. Whenever my hair moves to expose part of my neck, I get a chill down my spine. I can't imagine wearing shorts right now, yet these two guys were thrilled by the idea! Too weird.

Now I know men are often warmer than women are. I also know that since it's my time-of-the-month, I might be a little anemic. Furthermore, I realize that these are both big guys. They probably have more bodyfat than I have body. (Okay, perhaps I'm exaggerating, but not much.) But still...it seems weird that we should feel such extreme differences in the very same temperature!

On an ickier note: I was just in the restroom. The first stall I entered had urine splattered all over the seat! What was the girl doing in there....dancing while she was going??? How extremely disgusting. Why can't people at least clean up after themselves, if they're going to make such a nasty mess? Yuck.

Re: ickier note

Now, that is truly disgusting - unless it was guy in the woman's lavoratory - which is also disgusting and weird.

Re: ickier note

Yeah, that disturbing though crossed my mind as well. Really, disgusting whichever way you look at it. Ick.

I suspect the mess was left by someone who isn't willing to sit on the toilet seat. And if they're not willing to put their ass on it, they're even less likely to be willing to touch it to clean up after themselves. In their view, no one should sit on a toilet seat outside of their own home anyway, so they probably don't think it's an inconvenience...

Yeah, I've known girls who say they won't sit. But aren't they embarrassed by the fact that their urine is now splattered about a public place? Also, we expect men to lift the seat and not make a mess, why don't these women figure that the same social rules apply to them? Yuck.

My sentiment exactly! If you're not going to sit, lift the damn lid, you slobs! It's a little pet peeve of mine (but that's probably obvious).

Yeah, mine too. Ick.
